Draft 2002
|
ST KILDA continued to stock up on tall young talent by picking Brendon Goddard
with the first choice in the 2002 AFL draft. The 17-year-old from Gippsland Power
is 189cm and we're told he can play anywhere.
The Kangaroos got a beauty in Daniel Wells from Peel Thunder. He's fast, elusive, kicks well
and uses his pace as defensive weapon by chasing hard.
Fremantle appears to have picked up a bargain with Byron Schammer at 13. The West Adelaide
midfielder is noted for his endurance.
There was drama til the end at the draft with Carlton making Mick Martyn a Blue with the very choice.
In other news Steve Alessio was redrafted by the Bombers, Trent Croad's brother Cameron went to
Carlton and only one WA player was drafted.
We can tell you exclusively for australianrules.com.au that each club is very happy with
the players it has picked up.
