Joker for Claremont
|
by LES EVERETT
THERE are funny days ahead for the WAFL with the announcement of Guy McKenna's appointment
as coach of Claremont.
The dual Eagles premiership player might have been a bit of a
boundary line hugger as a player but as a personality he is simply one funny guy.
He's the kind of guy
that would put a rotting fish in your bag in the change rooms. Or offer you a lift and then drive off just as you approach the car
and stop 20 metres up the road then drive off again. Or put sugar in your petrol tank. Or creep
up behind you and pull your shorts down at training.
Guy was the fines man at the Eagles
who were an outfit known for their side splitting antics under Mick "There's two blokes and a
kangaroo and they go into a bar..." Malthouse.
So what can we expect from Guy at the Tigers? Well there will be really funny quarter and three quarter time addresses when the public
is around. But it will be more whacky and elaborate than that. Expect to see first gamers given funny roles
like little 170cm rovers being told to pick up players like East Perth's ruckman Ryan Turnbull
and the coaching staff just cracking up in the box.
Roll on 2003, it's gonna be a hoot.
