Ongerup grand final

BOXWOOD HILLS earned the right to a rematch against Jerramungup in the grand final of the Ongerup Football Association this Saturday at Nyabing.

In very windy conditions at Newdegate last Saturday, Boxwood overpowered Kent in the preliminary final with the aid of the breeze in the last quarter after Kent led by a point at three quarter time.

Reigning Ganzer Medallist Trevor Harris stepped up in the last quarter and kicked three goals and was well supported by defenders Glen Peacock and Kim Lester.

Jerramungup beat Boxwood by 29 points in the second semi final, but the grand final is expected to be a tight struggle.

For Boxwood to win they must contain big Jerramungup forward and former AFL player Brett Spinks and cut the midfield of Ashley Baldwin, Jason Spinks and Rod Carthew out of the game to stop the supply to Spinks.

Both sides have forwards capable of winning the game off their own boot with Boxwood's Aaron Davis in good form all season. Boxwood's midfield of Harvey Lynch, Craig Davis and Luke Bertola will need to take advantage of ruckmen Noel Keddings height advantage, but Jerramungup have appreciated the return of ruckmen Viv Hall who has missed most of the season through injury.

The player who could have the most impact on the game is rugged Jerramungup player Brenton Leuwin. If Boxwood cannot contain the hard running utility they may struggle to win.
