Falcons through
|
WEST Perth has pulled off a remarkable come-from-behind victory in the WAFL first semi final
at Subiaco Oval.
East Fremantle led by about four goals with less than 10 minutes to play but the Falcons, inspired by some
brilliant forward play from Todd Curley and Corey Johnson got up to win by five points.
Young Shark Nathan Cicerello missed a set shot second before the final siren which would have sent the game
into extra time.
Wayne Roser was responsible for some excellent work for the Sharks, Jason Morgan again showed his ability to
perform in finals and Brad Dodd had an excellent second half. Earl Spalding's team lost its last five
games for 2002 but were unlucky to lose this one.
West Perth had an extraordinary period up to early in the third quarter with 13 consecutive behinds. Brendon Logan
played well for the Falcons, Ron Skender was good in the ruck and Troy Longmuir kicked two early goals before
a heavy knock sent him to the bench.
In next week's second semi final East Perth will meet Subiaco.
