Another Patrick Smith story
|
by LES EVERETT
PATRICK Smith's been at it again.
He's
very good Patrick.
Six days a week he writes a big story in The Australian.
On the seventh day he doesn't rest. He talks about big stories on the TV. Patrick
sees things and he's wise and strong.
A couple of weeks ago he saw dirty Docker Paul Medhurst kick Bomber Danny
Jacobs.
Of course after being booted across the park Danny had only one thing on his
mind. He wanted to protect young Paul. Get him off the charge.
Patrick often sees things at Subiaco Oval too. A couple of years ago he saw Eagle
Fraser Gehrig belt an umpire at Subiaco Oval. Everybody else. Saw it at the
WACA.
Last week he saw something at Subiaco Oval again. Dockers training. It was like a
nightclub he said.
Funny thing that cos when the Dockers train at Subiaco Oval the sessions are
closed. The only people who can watch are the Eagles. From their offices in the
stands.
That's one exclusive nightclub.
The Dockers hold their official nightclub training runs on Tuesdays at Fremantle
Oval. It's a weird concept. Fans come to training. It will bring Fremantle down.
Fans and football must be kept separate.
Patrick is good. Did we mention that before?
But he's a got a weakness.
Hates the Dockers, scared of them perhaps. Specially now they've made the finals.
Maybe one day he should come to Subiaco Oval. He'll see that it's nice but not as
much happens there as he thinks.
Oh and another thing.
Patrick, Gerard Neesham represented Australia in water polo.
Still the idea of introducing aspects of volleyball into Australian rules is worth considering.
Net's a worry but.
