A call for bush footy yarns
|
AS you've seen with the excerpts we've published on australianrules.com.au Bush
Legends: South Australian Country Footy Stories by Anthony Madigan and Michael
Madigan is an engaging self-published book.
As SA great Graham Cornes
writes in the book's 'full foreword' - "This book is a powerful social work. The
stories, so painstakingly gathered, define our great game and the environment in
which it flourished. It will make you laugh and it will evoke priceless
memories."
And, as the story about Ross Gibbs on this site proves, you
don't have to be from SA or the bush to find something of interest. There's even
a photo of Tony Modra running around with the Loxton colts in 1986.
The
Madigans have been so successful with Bush Legends that they're embarking on a
second edition and this time they're looking for contributions.
If you
have a bush footy story to tell or you would like to buy a copy of Bush Legends
contact Anthony on
amadigan@chariot.net.au
- meanwhile watch out for a couple
more yarns on australianrules.com.au in the days to come.
