Stars of the eighties
|
THE North Fremantle amateur football club announced its team of the decade for
the 1980s at a function at Gil Fraser reserve last week.
Some of the NFAFC's 1980s team of the decade. Back row: Paul Hurst, Eddie
Browne, Robert Looby, Dave Heatley, Grant Nelson, Terry Sayers, Dave Haddow, Jack
Gabrielson. Front: Steve Jenkins, Glenn Hurst (captain coach), John Grierson, Ian
Abercomby, Kym Robertson.
A total of 234
players represented the club during the 1980s so the task was a difficult one for
the selectors who opted for a six man interchange bench to make their task a
little easier.
The Magpie stars from the decade that brought us Duran

are...
Backs: Kym Robertson; Phil Shaw; Dave Heatley
Half backs:
John Gabrielson; Robert Looby; Steve Jenkins
Centres: Brad Gordon; Drew
Herrington; Kevin Jones
Half forward: Richie Hayes; Jeff Shea; Mick
Kennedy
Full forwards: Mark McKinnon; Grant Nelson; Shane Wright
Ruck: Glenn Hurst (captain coach); Dave Haddow; Gavan Ferraz
Reserves:

Special medallions were
presented to each player with their wives or partners presenting the medallions
as a token of their involvement in the club.
Meanwhile the club's trip
to England, Ireland and the USA kicks off in about six weeks.
