Grassroots on the radio
|
THERE'S no AFL game happening during the day on Saturday September 18 and the
WAFL grand final is a Sunday game but that doesn't mean there will be no footy on
ABC radio.
australianrules.com.au contributor Paul Daffey and his
sidekick John Harms will take us the length and breadth of footy-playing
Australia in their grassroots program on ABC local radio from 3pm to 6pm EST.
Highlights will include a look at Tony Modra's 100 goal season for Encounter Bay
and a report on the Shepparton East vs Rumbalara grand final rematch at Violet
Town during the first hour.
The second hour will include a preview of the Upper Great Southern league (WA)
grand final between Kukerin-Dumbleyung and Wagin at Narrogin on Sunday. Kukerin
is famous for the Ditchburns, Wagin was home to the Materas.
And in the third hour the pair will look at the Northern Tasmanian Football
Association, Bendigo league and Sunraysia league grand finals and have a chat
with Gordon Casey the mentor of Jason Akermanis.
Our highlights package represents about a 50th of what will go to air so tune in
or maybe even give them a call about your grand final or competition.
Daffey is the author of Local Rites and Beyond the Big Sticks while Harms wrote
Loose Men Everywhere.
