Magpies ready to fly

by LES EVERETT
AS we told you at the start of the season the North Fremantle amateur football
club's season will have an international flavour this year.

On October 7
a 38-person touring party will head off on a tour that will include games in
London, Cork and Los Angeles.
Preparations for the tour will be capped on
Wednesday with the presentation of special world tour guernseys at Hungry Jack's
in Fremantle.
Organiser Baden Pratt told the Herald North's tour was not
just a football trip. "The players will be ambassadors and they'll have tasks to
perform everywhere we go including making speeches and looking after guests," he
said. "We hope they will be growing as people as well as having lots of
fun.
"What we're doing could lead to a change to traditional end of
season footy trips with more of a playing aspect involved."
Baden said he
had been amazed by the amount of Australian rules football played
overseas.
North Fremantle will play both Australian rules and
international rules game during the road trip and will be joined by a number of
North expats in London.
One of the highlights will be watching Australia
take on Ireland in an international rules game in Dublin on October 17.
The trip finishes in Melbourne with most of the tourists planning to attend the
Melbourne Cup at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November.
