OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW Big Iron World
by LES EVERETT
THE rest of the nation might by going ape over something about a punk with flowers in her hair but there's a different number one at my place. OCMS's 'I Hear Them All' is on high rotation. It's got everything... jaunty tune, great lyrics (with biblical undertones and words like benevolence and emancipator), a sensational one line chorus all the family can sing along to and, if that's not enough, Gillian Welch on drums. The rest of the album is full of the sheer joy of music. Lead vocals are shared around and the harmonies outstanding. 'Big Iron World' was produced by David Rawlings who adds a bit of guitar to a couple of tracks.
