The life and legacy of Simon Weisenthalby RICHARD JONESI HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN YOU is a documentary about Simon Wiesenthal, the Austrian Nazi hunter and survivor of World War 2's Holocaust. Wiesenthal died in 2005. He'd made it his life's work to primarily track down members of Hitler's dreaded SS units and ensure they were prosecuted for their crimes. Additionally, he also sought out other Nazi war criminals who had taken up hiding spots around the globe. Richard Trank's film is narrated by Nicole Kidman and uses archival film and TV footage of interviews with Wiesenthal himself. He had lost a number of family members not only in the dreaded wartime death camps but also to hunger and other wartime privations. His 50-year pursuit of war criminals came at no small cost to his own immediate family. His wife and daughter were impacted by Wiesenthal's investigations which resulted, at times, in death threats. Ben Kingsley who played Wiesenthal in a 1989 telemovie is interviewed and also author Frederick Forsyth who wrote The Odessa File based on Wiesenthal's work. 21 September 2007 |
