Good line at trainingby LES EVERETTA match-play training exercise at Fremantle Oval this morning shed some light on how Peter Bell's team mates are dealing with his relocation to Geraldton this year. While Bell was lining up for a set-shot for goal he was warned to watch the breeze. "It's not as windy here as up in Gero," someone (I think it was Shaun McManus) called. Bell put the shot straight through the middle. Matthew Pavlich had two perfect shots for goal and Chris Tarrant also put one through the middle. Byron Schammer was the standout player in the midfield and Michael Johnson also looked sharp. Bell's decision to live 424km north of Perth while he works on a property development has caused some comment among WA football followers with both major newspapers using the word 'bizarre' to describe his preparation. However his team mates appear to be using a time honoured Australian way of approaching the situation by simply taking the piss. 15 March 2008 If you'd like to comment on this story email us and we'll put your contribution on our new-look letters & comments page. |
