Wood takes over The Club

by LES EVERETT

DAVID WILLIAMSON wrote The Club in 1977 after years of seeing headlines about sacked coaches and high profile players switching clubs in the VFL.

The action takes place at a footy club facing a little bit of turmoil after nearly 20 years without premiership glory. Should the great traditions be challenged? Is it possible outsiders might just know how to play the game in a way that might make the premiership a cakewalk - or at least a possibility?

With its themes of club loyality, professionalism in sport, high priced recruits and even some recreational drug use among star players The Club is a veteran that can still keep up in the modern game.

The Club begins a season at The Playhouse in Perth on 23 April starring John Wood.

The season will run until 6 May with Saturday and Sunday matinees.

Tickets from BOCS on 9484 1133 or BOCS..
