The Rat is a mouse

it is official! the song list rat is now a mouse after undergoing dna modification at the V festival in perth on sunday. the exact purpose of the inaugural v festival remained a mystery to most perth punters prior to the event. however on the day it soon became obvious that virgin records had gathered together bands from all sides of the atlantic including australia representing the south atlantic (british cartographers have long confused their two most loyal and valued colonies of australia and the falkland islands on world maps) to pay homage to "the smiths".

Smiths fact one: alan donohoe the lead singer of the rakes wore a tee shirt proclaiming "meat is still murder".

Smiths fact two; johnny marr was the best guitarist in the world with the smiths and is still arguably the best guitarist in the world with modest mouse. modest mouse delivered an amazing set of driving guitars and bass overlaid upon an incessant dueling drum beat complete with isaac brocks vocals soaked with righteous anger. all songs classics made in mouse heaven. 'tiny cities made of ashes' from the moon and antarctica had every foot crippled or not dancing and 'satin in a coffin' from good news for people who like bad news was just brilliant. indignant rock is the new go.

Smiths fact three; the smiths were and always will be better than duran duran.
