Dangerfield shows what the fuss was about
AFL Rising Star nominee round three...
IN his report for The Footy Almanac 2008 on the round 20 game between Essendon and Adelaide at Docklands, Vin Maskell focussed on the debut of Crow Patrick Dangerfield.
It wasn't a spectacular debut though Dangerfield did kick a goal with his first kick. Maskell wasn't even at the game, he was manning the scoreboard at Williamstown, and his interest in Dangerfield stemmed from a family connection.
Adelaide picked Dangerfield at 10 in the 2007 draft ignoring local boy Brad Ebert. The recruit then added to his legend by deciding to stay home and complete his schooling before heading full-time to Adelaide.
Dangerfield gave an indication of what the Crows saw in him with a dashing performance against Fremantle at Subiaco on Sunday. In a game marred by skill errors the 19-year-old was sharp and strong particularly at stoppages.
He is the round three nomination for the AFL Rising Star Award.
Dangerfield was drafted from the Geelong Falcons via the Anglesea Football Club and Moggs Creek.
