Scoreboard Pingelly

March 15, 2010
By Les Everett

Quite a line up...

AN art project by Pingelly artist Tony Bennell is putting WA Wheatbelt town Pingelly's football history into sharp focus.
The town has always been known as the home of Nicky Winmar but Bennell's work will show an incredible connection to the present-day AFL.
Bennell has been inspired by the Pingelly Tigers, a team created by local Nyoongar players denied opportunities in local teams in the early 1960s.
The artist will paint family portraits that include descendants of the original Tigers including Perth and West Torrens champion Kevin Hill and AFL players Winston Abraham, Ashley Sampi, Josh Hill, Stephen Hill, Neville Jetta, Leroy Jetta, Lewis Jetta and Jamie Bennell.
