Royals progress, Tigers into the GF

WAFL semi finals...

EAST PERTH'S remarkable late-season WAFL run continued in Sunday with their seventh successive victory taking them to a preliminary final.
The Royals were 24 points behind East Fremantle at quarter time but a six-goal second quarter got them back into the game.
East Perth ruckman Zac Beeck was probably the most important player on the ground with his team dominating clearances. Fellow ruckman Zac Clarke also had an excellent game, he marked strongly and kicked two goals. Brendan Hancock played as an old-fashioned tall ruck rover and was very influential while other good Royals were Ben McKinley, who kicked six goals, Brendan Lee, Aaron Sweet, Luke Webster, Craig Wulff and Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls (three goals).
The best for the home team were Jamie McNamara, Paul McGough, Rhys Palmer and Leith Teakle.
East Perth 15.12 (102) East Fremantle 13.10 (88).
Claremont paid a big price for their comfortable second semi final win over Swan Districts. Captain Clancy Rudeforth sustained a broken jaw in a behind-the-play incident and won't play in the grand final.
The Tigers kicked six goals to one in the second quarter and were in control for the rest of the game.
Andrew Foster kicked five goals in another outstanding effort while his fellow midfielders Luke Blackwell, Ryan Brabazon and Kane Mitchell were also destructive. David Crawfored kicked four goals and defender Brandon Franz was impressive.
As usual Andrew Krakouer was the best Swan and Tom Roach also played well.
Claremont 17.17 (119) Swan Districts 10.9 (69).
Next week: Preliminary final: Swan Districts vs East Perth at Bassendean Oval.
